Ligotshwa lise manzi

A Zulu proverb that means that the best time to affect change in a person is when they are still young or just starting out. MenPro believes in that saying and we embark on outreach programmes aimed at children still in primary school. We believe that instilling all these positive values in young minds is the proper way to go.

It Takes a Village

We can try on our own and manage to change the destinies of just ten children but with help from the community and support from different institutions then we can aim for a million lives changed. A collective effort will reach further than our singlular efforts.

The return of the gentleman

Many young men sit and complain that women have taken away their opportunities, some even believe that they took away their manhood and resort to violence in order to re-affairm their standing as men.

MenPro believes that if we teach these youngmen that the success of a woman doesn't take anything away from them and that their manhood is determined by how they behave in public and how much respect and love they show to others then they will become the men that will lead this country forward

Our Service to the Future

We have a few things that we do as MenPro to ensure that our goals and ambitions are met.

Schools outreach

We go to schools and speak to the youth and present them with what their future would be like when they are informed and make sound decisions. We embrace the adage that "knowledge is power" and them knowing what they have to look forward to

Mentorship programmes

We are currently recruiting people who are willing to be mentors to these kids. We are looking for professionals and entreprenuers from all walks of life and look to match them with children who have interests in those fields.

We believe that when a child sees the real world demands of their "dream job" they will be better motivated to work hard at achieving those dreams

Holiday workshops

The holiday is a time for rest and relaxation for children of all ages and most of the time this means that the child gets left at home unsupervised thus becomes prone to taking part in unsavoury acts.

We will be holding workshops during holidays that will cater to the different needs of children, some will be getting study help from volunteer teachers while others will be involved in activities that not only entertain but build character.

Community Help

We believe that it takes a village to raise a child and as much as we are dependent on the community helping us in our efforts, we will also in turn offer assistance in the community. Be it through an adopt-a-school programme or forming partnerships with other organizations that are geared towards community upliftment. We are part of the village and we will play our part

Adopt-A-School

To foster a culture of giving back we have an adopt a school project whereby the children we are mentoring will go to a school and help wherever we can. Be it painting the school or making sure that the landscape of the school grounds is clean and looks beautiful.

We are not only looking to helping just schools but orphanages, creches, children's homes. We believe that in doing this we encourage the young men to look at the whole community as part of their family and to look after the people in it however they can.

Big-Brother

We are encouraging people to mentor, motivate and groom teenage boys into being responsible and upstanding people in our community.

Those young men who show promise early on will be selected to act as "Big brothers" to children who are still in primary school. These youngmen will help the younger children with homework, participation in sports etc, the Big brother programme is not just boys mentoring boys but girls are also going to be participants in it.

Common Questions

Everything you need to know before you get started

What is MenPro

MenPro is a foundation that is geared toward "restoring the pride of men". We say we are restoring the sense of pride that men feel when they know that they have achieved their goals, they have performed excellently and are looked upon as leaders

Does this mean that women are excluded?

There's an adage, "mom's boy and daddy's girl", women have always been responsible for shaping and raising men. We are in no way excluding women but invite them to continue with the good work they have been doing in shaping young minds. We invite them to take part in our out reach programmes, to motivate and mentor youngmen

Why are we doing this?

There are "known truths" when it comes to men. Real men don't cry, men are born to lead, men are just naturally advantaged etc. In the past some of those known truths may be true but not today. We believe that men should be able to express their feelings (this will greatly reduce suicides among men), men need guidance and protection just as much as a girl-child does.

Who are your partners?

We currently are not partnered with any organization or body but we are looking for partners in different areas. We would love to partner with organisations that are geared toward child welfare and education.

How can I help?

There are different ways you can help, you can help through donating with your time and expertise or money. We are constantly looking for positive role models from all walks of life and we welcome anyone looking to mentor or just motivate the youth. We are not just looking for academic professionals but we are looking for people who have made it against all odds to motivate and nurture the youngmen.

What is our "mission accomplished?"

Our mission accomplished will be when the participants in our projects achieve their goals and come back to uplift and motivate the next generation. Our mission accomplished is receiving graduation photos from youngmen who were mentored and grew to be positive participants in the future and growth of our country
